Security seals
The security seals guarantee (*see note), to a certain extent, that the gem contained in these containers is the same as the one to which the certificate corresponds. The Laboratory of Analysis and Certification of the IGE has different types of security seals for gems and jewellery: LUX, or sealed plastic bags. If the client does not need a seal, the gemstone will be delivered in a folder with the information of the corresponding certificate or report.
If a seal is not required, the gemstone is delivered in a paper folder without any sealing.

LUX seal
Credit card sized blister pack, with the gemstone in a capsule on a white foam pad, with the main certificate information on the reverse.

Once opened, the blister is unusable. The text "SECURITY SEAL ANNULED" appears. In addition, the capsule containing the gemstone is sealed at the bottom with a thin white membrane with security text that appears under UV light. This membrane has to be broken to remove the gem.

Sealed plastic bags
You can choose to order your jewellery or gems in plastic bags of different sizes, with IGE security seal. They can be used to store the gems and jewellery analysed in gemmological reports.
Once the security seal has been removed, the text "OPEN VOID" is displayed.

Gem and jewellery checking and resealing service
The Laboratory of the IGE offers a service of revision and resealing of gems, to check that the gem/jewel corresponds to the certificate or report previously issued by the IGE, and to reseal it.
| Checking and resealing | 40 € | |
* IMPORTANT NOTE: There is no security seal that is totally impossible to counterfeit. As in many cases the gems are of very high value, there is a possibility of forgery. We recommend opening the seal to check that the characteristics of the gemstone correspond to its description on the certificate (nature, weight, measurements, inclusions, etc.).
